Best Swim(s):  Placing in the top, I think it was 20, at Nationals in the 200 Fly. Being late to the blocks, and then forgetting that my pantyhose were still on after a shave at one of the big meets, while Ken was waving to me at the end of the pool to take them off, and being able to take them off in time, and then I think getting at the time, was my best time in the low 53's in 100 Fly.
Best Experience:  Ken's great, and always interesting practices (I will never know how he kept them so different over all those years!). The Districts and Areas trips. Getting up early with my mom and travelling all over to those AAU meets it seemed like every weekend. All those Last Chance meets. My three Nationals trips. The overnight New York trips. Saturday morning practices with the great "fog" over the pool. "Hocking a loogy" onto Ken's hand as he was leaning over one of the starting blocks giving us our next set. Seeing how far up on the wall we could spit in between sets.
Comments: Many happy memories, and great friends. We built a house out in Westminster on 4+ acres with my Wife of 8 years Ginger, and our two great (but intense) kids, Victoria (4.5) and Christopher (3). Belong to the Carroll County YMCA and take the kids swimming every so often. But when I look at "their" Y and especially their records, it isn't, or never will be in the same league as our good old SPY. Sorry to see Ken go, I think everyone who swam under him, owes him a huge debt of gratitude, what a great coach and person...it sure was different back in the early to late 80's at least when I was there, than I'm sure it is now...if you know what I mean. Maybe our parents were just more easy going??

Best Wishes and Hello to all...

Steve and Ginger Bruha
