Years on SPY:

College:

Best Swim(s):

Y National in 1993. Swam the 400 IM with a fever and then vomited following the race in front of a man who then became my coach. That was my first introductory meeting w/ him. Going to Zones as an eight-year-old w/ Robin as the breastroke team from SPY after being DQ in the 100 Breast for false starting.

Best Experience:

The trip to new York when I was in 8th grade and Jenny Duffy made booby trips to keep the scary guy away. The after morning swim practice at the YMCA and the bugs. The party at Mary Jo Mahoneys house when her dad scared the living out of Amy by pretending to be breaking into the basement. My sister Julie and I as the beltway bandits trying to get from Baltimore to Severna Park in time for practice but always late because of traffic. Time I put my foot thru the wall at home and then my mom told you and you always joked at me to get upset and try the brick wall at the pool

Comments:

Thanks Ken for all you did. I wish I had been able to stay w/ SPY thru my senior year in high school but the distance between McDonogh and SPY was too great and really become stressful. Thanks for teaching me to swim and love swimming. I went on to college and swam and played tennis for a Division III program. I had a solid swimming career in college considering I broke my tibia and fibula and strained the ligaments in my right ankle drinking the second week of classes as a freshman. You definitely fueled my love as I still am swimming religiously here in Colorado on a masters team 3 times a week about 3500 meters each time. Thanks so much and good luck to the new swimmers just joining the sport.
