Jim Hutcheson
Co-Head Coach

After being part of the SPY Program for ten
years as an assistant coach, and involved in YMCA Competitive Swimming for
more than 15 years, Jim Hutcheson takes over as the Head Coach of the SPY
program for the 2005-2006 season. In addition to coaching, Jim teaches
middle school Math, Reading, and English classes at Our Lady of Victory
School in the Archidiocese of Baltimore. A member of the YMCA Coaches'
Association and the District Coordinator for YMCA swimming in the Maryland
and Delaware region, Jim represents SPY's interests at the local, regional,
and national levels within the YMCA of the USA Competitive Swimming
structure. With more than 18 years of coaching experience, Jim's broad
knowledge of stroke mechanics and training techniques enable him to work
with swimmers of all ages and competitive levels, from developing age group
swimmers to training senior and national-level swimmers, and broadens the
range of expertise to which our swimmers are exposed throughout the year.
Jim is well-respected regionally and nationally for his leadership in
competitive swimming, and serves as a trainer for the YMCA of the USA,
spreading the reputation of SPY Swimming as Maryland's pre-eminent YMCA
Competitive Swim Program.

| Crystee Ballard
Co-Head Coach

Crystee Ballard has been involved in competitive swimming for over 20 years. She has been coaching for
a total of 16 years. Crystee has achieved recognition as a Level III ASCA certified coach. She is a SPY
Alumnus and went on to swim for Towson State University. She spent one year working with the University
of Maryland Swim Team while working on her master’s degree. She has also spent three summers at the University
of Michigan working with their swim camps. When Crystee is not coaching she enjoys running and spending
time with her husband Nat and daughters Carlee and Ellie. This will be Crystee's sixth year coaching at SPY
and third year as Associate Head Coach.

Ashley Clempner
Assistant Coach

Ashley Clempner has been involved in swimming and water polo for 17 years. She grew up swimming and playing
water polo for the Naval Academy Aquatics Club in Annapolis, Maryland. She continued to swim for one season in
college at Radford University before transferring to the University of Maryland where she played water polo.
Ashley has coached previously for Ocean Pines Swim Team in Berlin, Maryland, and currently coaches at Chase Creek
Swim Club during the summers. She has nine years of coaching experience. She has achieved recognition as an ASCA
Level 2 certified coach. She graduated in May of 2005 from the University of Maryland at College Park and is
currently teaching third grade at Hillsmere Elementary School in Annapolis.

Richard Heim
Assistant Coach

Richard has been involved in competitive swimming for over 15 years. Richard swam on SPY
for 9 years and has 5 years of coaching experience. He is currently certified as a Level
III ASCA coach. He most recently coached for Oakleigh Forest in the summer and
has coached for Evergreen and Shipley's Choice in the past. Richard graduated
from the University of Virginia in May 2005 with a degree in Mechanical
Engineering and now works in Towson as an engineer. This is Richard's third year coaching at SPY.

Peter Kogut
Assistant Coach

Peter has been involved in swimming for 9
years. He swam for SPY for 4 years until he graduated in 2003. He
continued to swim at the College of William and Mary his freshman
year before transferring to the University of Maryland College Park
where he majors in Psychology. Peter coached the Ulmstead swim team
this summer and looks forward to returning to SPY.

Maureen Kogut
Assistant Coach

Maureen has been a coach
of SPY's Intramural swim team for the last three seasons. She is
completing her ASCA level 3 coaching certification.
Maureen currently works as SPY's Aquatic Director, and is
certified as a Lifeguard Instructor as well as a Water Safety
Instructor Trainer.
