Wellspring/Arthritis ProgramsAll Wellspring Classes are held in our new Therapy Pool Wellspring
is
an array of aquatic programs each designed with the goal of optimum
wellness for every member of the community.
Arthritis Foundation Water Exercise Program: The class is taught by an Arthritis Foundation trained instructor and is recommended for people with arthritis and fibromyalgia. With the aid of the waters buoyancy and resistance the class provides those persons with arthritis an exercise program that can improve joint flexibility and stiffness. The program also provides a forum for persons to meet, socialize and exchange information on arthritic related topics. All classes are held in the Therapy Pool. Physician approval is required before attending classes. Hours:
Cost: $40 for a 10 visit pass or $5.50 per visit. The pass does not expire and can be used at random, but please keep in mind that class schedules may vary from session to session. Wellspring Swim: Come and relax and float during our Wellspring Swim" time in the therapy pool. This is limited to *Adults ONLY*. No professional aquatic instruction is allowed during this time.*Exceptions may be made for those children whose physcian has recommended aquatic exercises. Cost is $5.50 per visit or $60 for a 15 visit pass ($55/15 visits for Seniors over age 60). Ai Chi: This class is designed to reduce stress and muscle stiffness and increase joint flexibility and overall conditioning. Appropriate for those with arthritis as well. All classes are held in the Therapy Pool. Please call the pool desk, 410-315-7779 ex. 104 for class dates and times. Cost*: $55 for an eight-session class. * 6 classes for $40 Any class that consistently has less than six participants will be cancelled. Classes are either 3 or 4-week sessions and meet two times per week. Classes will be led by a Wellspring Aquatic Rehabilitation Instructor with a background in fitness and health care. Doctor approval and medical release is required. Any possible reimbursement by a third party is the responsibility of the participant.
Aquatic Therapy for the Rehab Professional Offered by Anne Arundel Community College in partnership with Aquatic Resources Network and held at SPY Aquatics Learn the principles of aquatic therapy treatment. Discuss indications and precautions for clients with different conditions. Explore how aquatic therapy increases strength, decreases pain and improves balance and functional skills. Discuss insurance coverage options and marketing strategies for physicians. Approved by the Maryland State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners and Maryland State Board of Occupational Therapy Practice for 15 contact hours or 1.5 CEUs. These physical therapy programs are independent of Wellspring and SPY AQUATICS programming.
